Information The Course
Shifnal's course measures 6468 yards with a Standard
Scratch Score of 71. It offers the golfer some really challenging
holes, which soon earn the players' respect. The first half of the
course has a variety of par 4's, but well placed bunkers at the 1st,
3rd, 4th and 9th make for demanding approaches to the greens. The
two par 5's on this half look quite straight forward but require
accurate shots to the greens.
The second half becomes more undulating when the Decker
Hill comes into play. Holes 14 and 16 are both played on uphill
slopes that take the player to the highest point on the course,
where you are rewarded with fine views over the course and
surrounding countryside. Several of the par 4's have dog-leg
fairways and a good tee shot is essential for a chance to get par,
in particular at 12, 16 and 18.
The final 3 holes are challenging and will test the
golfer trying to protect a good score. The final hole has
out-of-bounds on the left, but will reward a drive drawn around the
corner and back to the 18th green in front of the club house.
